What playtesters are saying

They fit well right out of the box, no break in required, and they are incredibly comfortable and light, so I feel I can fly all over the court.

They are very stable and balanced, and they give me great court feel while still having a good amount of cushion for those heavy deep lunges.

Squash Coach (Former HK #6)

I love the sock like feeling of the upper, it feels supportive and holds the foot in place well, while keeping plenty of room for my toes.

FAQ

Is VOLYS a barefoot shoe?

No. Volys is an anatomical, zero-drop court shoe. While it honors natural foot biomechanics with a wide toe box and flat platform, true barefoot shoes lack the structural integrity, lateral stability, and low-profile impact absorption required to withstand aggressive court cuts without breaking down.

What makes Volys different from traditional court shoes

Volys is engineered as a hybrid court shoe, bridging the gap between barefoot shoes and traditional court shoes.

It preserves the zero-drop alignment and foot-shaped toe box from health-focused footwear, then adds low-profile cushioning, torsional midfoot support, and lateral containment elements built specifically to handle high-velocity braking, lunging, and pivoting.

Will zero-drop shoes work for me if I've always worn traditional shoes?

Yes, but we recommend a short transition period if you are new to zero-drop footwear. Because a zero-drop platform aligns your heel and forefoot on the same plane, it engages your Achilles, calves, and foot musculature naturally. Start by wearing them during warm-ups and light training before taking them into full-intensity match play.

If barefoot is so good for you, why do we need cushioning?

The human foot is designed to handle natural movements. However, sports, and racket/court sports in particular, involve a lot of "unnatural movements", and a little bit of cushion can help offset that. Keeping it zero-drop maintains natural joint alignment, while our tuned low-profile cushioning absorbs high-impact deceleration without raising your heel or compromising court feel and responsiveness.

What sports are VOLYS designed for?

The VOLYS NZO 1 is built for all high-demand, multidirectional court sports—specifically squash, padel, badminton, racquetball, pickleball, and volleyball. If your movement relies on hard lateral stops, lunges, and rapid direction changes, this is engineered for you.
